I thank God for the privilege of growing up in the Philippines, where my parents served as missionaries. I initially felt called to follow in their footsteps, and pursued a degree in religious education. The call shifted to the study of Christian counseling and psychology after a dear friend in his 20’s was diagnosed with terminal cancer.
My appreciation for other cultures has helped me serve people of European, African American, Asian, Hispanic, and Jewish ethnicity. I believe counseling holds benefit for people of all cultures, and am grateful for psychotherapy approaches like EMDR that have helped people in 70 countries, including the United States, heal from troubling experiences.
I am grateful to have been able to be of help to physicians, nurses, pastors and their families, musicians, law enforcement, community leaders, and educators, when they have found themselves seeking someone to talk to about their own lives and concerns.
On a personal note, I am indebted to my parents for providing me with piano lessons when I was young. God has brought me joy and comfort through writing and arranging music, and it has been a pleasure to share the music with friends and congregations. A number of people have told me that the slower music helps them relax.
